According to a study by Supply Value, inflation is currently considered one of the greatest challenges in the retail sector. The roots of high inflation extend beyond the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the COVID-19 pandemic, inventory levels surged and the supply chain was disrupted, forcing companies to seek alternative channels with higher costs. As the pandemic subsided and the supply chain began to recover, this led to (1) an oversupply in the market and (2) a decrease in demand. Furthermore, the conflict in Eastern Europe placed significant pressure on energy supplies, leading to a decline in consumer confidence and further price increases.
